DollarBird

Collaborative personal finance management with a dash of AI

Dollarbird 1 was great. Now we’re three versions in and it’s even better

The finance management app we were looking for was easy to understand, easy to use, and didn’t add a barrier of adoption depending on where you lived. Because we couldn’t find it, we built Dollarbird 1. It’s our first in-house consumer product.

The great feedback we received on it motivated us to build even better versions of Dollarbird. We added collaborative features and got rid of outdated technologies. We kept our loyal user base involved in the process until we found the perfect experience. And when we say perfect, we also mean pixel perfect.

Dollarbird’s main goal is to help people get smarter about their money.

We translated that into a straightforward onboarding, easy daily use and even easier options on collaborating with more people and with more accounts.

Get a ‘smart’ hand in categorizing your transactions

Adding each transaction by hand kept users mindful of where their money went. Yet, we wanted to make the process simpler, so they’d stick to the task. That’s why a new AI capability makes educated guesses on the category for every new transaction added. The user can approve or correct the suggestion, and make the AI smarter!

An easy mental model to understand personal finances

We wanted to take the uncomfortable out of managing your finances. And what could be more familiar than a calendar framework where each transaction could be saved like a meeting you’d add in your calendar?

Consistent interface across platforms

To empower the user to confidently use Dollarbird across mobile and web platforms, we made sure to keep consistent in the elements and solutions we used. We did that while being respectful to each platform’s guidelines to match user expectations as much a possible.

“Dollarbird makes sense for anyone who wants to keep a closer eye on their cash flow for better financial planning purposes.”
